hello

A young man standing on a city sidewalk, looking at his reflection in a tall glass window, which creates a mirror image of him. The photo is in black and white.

KAIRO (Daniel Smith, London 1988) is a UK-based commercial photographer working across hospitality, architecture and placemaking.

His work is built around atmosphere, natural light and the quiet presence of people within space. He is drawn to stillness, gesture and the moments in between — creating images that feel natural, cinematic and lived-in.

Working with hotels, restaurants, design-led brands and creative teams, KAIRO brings an observational approach to places and the people who give them character.

His personal practice continues to inform the commercial work, keeping the approach restrained, human and grounded in real environments.

His fine-art work has been exhibited across the UK, France, Monaco and Australia, with solo exhibitions including What Would Grace Do in 2023.

Photography is how I move through the world quietly, attentively, finding stillness in the spaces most people overlook.
